In the name of God Amen I Joseph Allen of Hanslope in the County of Buckingham Farmer   Do make publish and declare my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following   And I nominate constitute and appoint my Son in Law John Brooks of Hanslope aforesaid Publican and my Friend Samuel Adams of the same place Farmer joint Executors thereof I give and bequeath unto the said John Brooks and Samuel Adams their executors administrators and assigns All and every my household goods and furniture implements of Husbandry Cattle Grain and Hay and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever Upon Trust by sale of such part or parts thereof as may be deemed necessary and required for that purpose to pay and discharge all my just debts (except such debts as are secured by Mortgage of my Real Estate) And all funeral and testamentary expenses   And after payment thereof Upon Trust to permit and suffer my dear wife Mary Allen to have and enjoy the benefit and  use of the residue of my said personal estate and effects during the term of her natural life   And after her decease Upon Trust to sell and dispose of such personal estate and  effects and pay apply and divide the clear produce arising there from unto and amongst my Grandchildren William Allen (son of my late daughter Hannah) and the several children of my daughter Charlotte equally share and share alike The share of each such Grandchild to become vested and transmissible when and as he she or they shall severally attain the age of twenty one years And if any or either of my said Grandchildren shall happen to die under the age of twenty one years To the survivors of such of my said Grandchildren who shall live to attain such age hence if one only shall live to attain the age of twenty one years Unto such surviving Grandchild his or her executors administrators or assigns   And it is my Will and mind that such part only of my said personal estate and effects shall be converted into money as shall be required for payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses in manner hereinbefore mentioned It being my Will and intention that my said Wife shall be at liberty to carry on and continue the Farms which I may hold and occupy at the time of my decease if she is so disposed and can obtain the Tenancy thereof But if my said wife shall relinquish the possession of the said Farms Then it is my will and mind that my said Trustees and Executors shall forthwith after such Relinquishment sell and dispose of my said personal estate and effects and after payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses in manner hereinbefore mentioned And all expences incident to such sale shall place out and invest the net produce arising therefrom on Government or real Security in their own names or name and stand possessed thereof Upon theTrusts and for the purposes hereinbefore declared concerning the same I give and devise All and every my real Estate and whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said Wife Mary Allen To hold to her the said Mary Allen and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life And from and immediately after her decease I give and devise the same real estates and every part thereof unto my said daughter Charlotte Brooks To hold to her the said Charlotte Brooks her heirs and assigns for ever (charged nevertheless and  I do hereby make chargeable the same Estates with the payment of all principal money and Interest which may be secured therein by Mortgage at the time of my decease in exoneration of my personal estate) And it is my Will and mind and I do hereby declare and direct that neither of my said Trustees shall be responsible for the other of them but each of them for his own acts receipts and defaults only And that it shall and may be lawful for each of them to retain out of the Trust money which may come to his hands and reimburse himself all such costs damages and expences which he may have sustained in and about the execution of the Trusts thereof in him reposed And hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made I declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine Joseph Allen (LS) Signed sealed published and declared by the said Joseph Allen as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto Mr F E Congreve Solicitor Stony Stratford Edward S Harris his Clerk
