This is the last Will and Testament of me Richard Slade the elder of Hanslope in the County of Buckingham Yeoman which I make in manner following (that is to say)   I give devise and bequeath unto my Friends James Bishop and Thomas Cleaver both of Hanslop aforesaid Yeomen their Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns All and singular my Messuages Cottages Closes Lands Tenements hereditaments and real Estate situate at Hanslop aforesaid or elsewhere and of whatsoever tenure the same may be  And also All my ready Money Securities for money goods Chattels and personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever To Hold my said real and personal Estates according to the respective nature and legal qualities thereof unto and to the use of the said James Bishop and Thomas Cleaver their Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns Upon Trust that they my said Trustees or the survivor of them or the Heirs Executors administrators or assigns of such survivor do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease make sale and absolutely dispose of my said real Estate either by public Auction or private Contract and either together or in Parcels as they or he shall deem expedient for the best price or prices in Money that can be reasonably had or gotten for the same And do and shall convey and assure the same to the purchaser or purchasers thereof accordingly   And upon Trust that they my said Trustees or the Survivor of them or the Executors Administrators or assigns of such Survivor do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease collect get in and receive all such debts and sums of money as shall be then due and owing to me from any person or persons whomsoever and do and shall sell and dispose of and convert into money such part of my said personal Estate as shall not consist of money And do and shall by and out of the Monies to arise and be made from my said real and personal Estates pay satisfy and discharge all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences and after full payment and satisfaction thereof Upon Trust that they my said Trustees or the Survivor of them or the Executors Administrators or assigns of such Survivor do and shall invest a sufficient Sum In Government Security to produce a full and clear yearly sum of Forty pounds and do and shall receive the dividends half yearly and pay apply and dispose thereof for the Maintenance and support of my Daughter Susanna Slade for and during the Term of her natural life   And do and shall pay and apply a proportionate part of such dividends in like manner up to the day of the death of the said Susanna Slade   And my mind and Will is and I do hereby direct that until my said Trustees shall be in a situation from the sale and conversion of my said real and personal Estates to invest a sufficient sum to produce the said yearly sum of Forty Pounds they or the Survivor of them or the Heirs Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall by and out of the rents and profits of my said real Estate or by and out of any Monies which may come to their hands by Virtue of this my Will pay and apply for the Maintenance of my said daughter Susanna Slade the said Yearly sum of Forty Pounds by even and equal half yearly Payments the first of such Payments to be made at the expiration of six calendar months next after my decease   And I direct that they my said Trustees or the Survivor of them or the Executors Administrators or Assigns of such Survivor do and shall share divide and pay all the rest and residue of the monies to arise and be made by the ways and means aforesaid unto amongst and equally between my seventeen Grand Children (the Sons and daughters of my Son Richard Slade My late Son William Slade deceased and my daughter Mary the Wife of Thomas Theophilus Dawson) or such of my said seventeen Grandchildren as shall be living at the time of my decease to be paid to them respectively as and when they shall respectively attain the Age of Twenty One and in the Meantime the same to be put out to interest by my said Trustees and the Interest thereof to be applied towards their Maintenance and education And I direct that upon the decease of my said Daughter Susanna the Money which shall have been invested for her benefit shall be sold out and shall go to and be equally divided unto amongst and between my said seventeen Grandchildren or such of them as shall be living at the decease of my said Daughter and that the shares of such of my said Grandchildren as shall be then under the Age of twenty one years shall be paid to them respectively as and when they shall respectively attain that Age and in the meantime be put out at interest as above directed and the interest thereof applied towards their Maintenance and education And for facilitating the sale of my said real Estate I direct and declare that the receipt or receipts in writing of my said Trustees or the survivor of them or of the Heirs executors administrators or assigns of such Survivor shall be a good and sufficient discharge or discharges to the purchaser or purchasers thereof respectively for the Money for which the same shall be sold as aforesaid and that such Purchaser or purchasers shall not after the signing of such Receipt or receipts be answerable or accountable for any loss misapplication or nonapplication of such purchase money or any part thereof or be bound to see to the application thereof or be in anywise implicated in  the Trusts of this my Will   And I direct and declare that my said Trustees shall be chargeable with such Monies only as they or he shall actually receive and that one of them shall not be answerable or accountable for the other of them or for the Acts deeds receipts neglects or defaults of the other of them but each of them for his own Acts deeds receipts neglects or defaults only and that neither of them shall be answerable for any Misfortune or loss which may happen of or for to the said Trust Monies or any part thereof except the same shall happen through their or his wilful neglect or default and that it shall be lawful for them and each of them to deduct retain to and reimburse himself and themselves all such Costs charges and expences as they or he shall sustain expend or be put unto in or about the execution of the Trusts of this my Will And I appoint the said James Bishop and Thomas Cleaver joint Executors of this my Will And revoking hereby all former Wills by me made I declare this only to be and contain my last Will and Testament – In Witness whereof I the said Richard Slade the elder the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in three sheets of paper fixed together at the top with a Seal set my hand and Seal (that is to say) to the first two sheets hereof my hand only and to this third and last my hand and Seal this fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six – Ri
