In the Name of God Amen I Joseph Downing of Hanslop in the County of Bucks Baker being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praised be God for the same do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)   First I give and devise all my freehold Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever situate and being in Hanslop aforesaid or elsewhere either in possession revertion remainder or expectancy unto my loving wife Mary Downing To hold to my said wife and her assigns during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise my said Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments unto my grandson John Downing and to his heirs and assigns forever   Item I give and bequeath all my household goods chattels effects and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (my debts if any I shall owe at the time of my decease and funeral expences being thereout first paid and discharged) unto my said Wife Mary Downing for her to have the use and enjoyment of my said goods and the profit of my personal estate during her life and with power to sell any part of the same for her support and maintenance if she be really in necessity so to do (but not otherwise) and from and after her decease I give and bequeath my said goods chattels effects and personal Estate unto my said Grandson John Downing his Executors and Administrators and of this my last Will and Testament I make ordain constitute and appoint my said wife Mary Downing and my said Grandson John Downing joint Executors thereof hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of September in the one and twentieth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty seven - The mark of Joseph Downing Signed sealed published and declared by the Testator Joseph Downing to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who attested the same in the presence of the said Testator and in the presence of each other – Tho.
