In the Name of God Amen I Catherine Adams of Hanslop in the County of Bucks Widow being weak in body but of sound Mind Memory and Understanding praised by Almighty God for the Same Do Make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) ffirst and principally I Commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God Who Gave it hoping to be Saved through the Merits of Jesus Christ My body I Commit to the Earth to be decently Interred at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named and as for such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I Give and dispose thereof as follows   First I Will that all such debts as I shall justly owe at the time of my decease and my funeral charges be in the first place paid and Satisfied by my Executor afternamed   Item I give and bequeath unto my son Matthew Adams the Sum of fforty Pounds   Item I give and bequeath  unto my son John Adams the Sum of one Shilling   Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Gray wife of John Gray the sum of five Pounds Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susannah York  wife of John York the sum five Pounds   Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Carter wife of John Carter the sum of five Shillings and three barrels one Great Kettle 1 porridge pott half my pewter two tubbs half a Dozen brown Chairs, three White chairs two beds and bedding and half my Linnen   Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Elizabeth Carter daughter of John and Mary Carter the Sum of five Pounds to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named when she shall arrive at the age of twenty one years   And Lastly all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattells and Cattle real and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever after payment of my just Debts Legacies and funeral Expences I Give Devise and bequeath unto my son Thomas Adams his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns   And I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint my said son Thomas Adams sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament  In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Thirteenth of ffebruary and in the Twenty Second year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth  and in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and forty Nine The Mark of Catherine Adams – Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the said Catherine Adams the Testator as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have Subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereunto at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other Thomas Nichols, John Richards, Thomas Billing
